7,500 German Workers Get Pay Raise Amidst Economic Crisis

In a move to support workers amidst the economic crisis, 7,500 employees are set to receive a pay raise. This follows a successful negotiation by the trade union IG Metall in Germany last year, which secured higher wages and inflation adjustments for 30,000 employees in the metal construction and precision mechanics sectors.

The pay raise aims to help employees keep up with the rising cost of living. Starting in December, workers will see an increase of 2.2 percent, followed by a 2.4 percent rise in September next year. This is not the first time IG Metall has secured such benefits; last year, 30,000 employees in the same sectors received a similar pay raise and inflation adjustment.

In addition to the wage increase, apprentices will also benefit. First-year apprentices will receive a training allowance of 1,040 euros, with subsequent years seeing an increase of 50 euros.

The pay raise, effective from December, will provide much-needed relief to 7,500 employees. This follows IG Metall's successful negotiation last year, demonstrating the union's commitment to protecting workers' purchasing power during challenging economic times.
