Accelerating the pace of the energy transformation through the application of wheels
The Energiewende erFAHREN cycling tour is set to embark on its fifth edition, starting in Heek, western Münsterland on August 31, 2025. This annual event, organised by the Landesverband Erneuerbare Energien NRW (LEE NRW), aims to accelerate the transition to renewable energies.
Over the course of six days, more than 100 participants are expected to traverse Germany, passing through Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Brandenburg before reaching Berlin. The route has been designed to include locations significant for renewable energy, sustainability projects, or exemplary "energy transition" sites.
During the tour, the "Golden Book of the Energy Transition" will be filled with impressions, ideas, and political demands from the visited locations. This symbolic artifact represents the tour's goals and achievements, serving as a means to collect thoughts and aspirations from the cyclists and local communities.
The tour will include members of LEE NRW and representatives of other state associations, as well as the Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie (BEE). NRW's Minister of Transport, Oliver Krischer, will give the official starting signal.
The "Golden Book of the Energy Transition" will be presented to parliamentarians in Berlin at the end of the tour, marking the culmination of this nationally recognised action that began with around 15 cyclists in 2021.
The Energiewende erFAHREN cycling tour is a testament to the growing movement towards a sustainable future, demonstrating the potential for cycling events to be linked with sustainability and energy transition topics.
