"Airport in Shymkent: Air Carriers Plea to Kazakhstan's Residents"
Air Astana and FlyArystan to Commence Operations from New Shymkent Airport Terminal
Effective May 27, 2025, Air Astana and FlyArystan will relocate their flights to the newly constructed terminal at Shymkent Airport. The shift includes both international and domestic flights.
Starting the same day, Air Astana's inaugural flight from Shymkent will head to Doha. The airline advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure, allowing ample time for check-in, security screenings, and other pre-flight procedures.
With regard to FlyArystan, all flights to and from Shymkent will transition to the new Terminal A of the international airport from May 27, 2025. The company encourages travelers to take this change into account when planning their trips and to arrive at the airport early.
Spanning an area of 39,000 square meters, the terminal is capable of accommodating up to 2,000 passengers per hour. Facilities within the terminal include a food area, prayer rooms, and adequate waiting areas, suggesting that passengers will have options to pass their time comfortably while awaiting their flights.
It was previously announced that Pegasus Airlines would begin operating all flights from Shymkent's new terminal starting May 24. The terminal was opened at the end of December 2024, with SCAT being the first airline to transfer its operations to the new facility.
[1] Shymkent Airport's new terminal offers ample food and beverage options, prayer rooms, and waiting areas to accommodate up to 2,000 passengers per hour.[2] Start planning your trip and arrive at the airport early due to the airport's new requirements.[3] The airport has multiple auxiliary service facilities in place to support increased traffic volumes.[4] Passengers seeking dining options can do so within the terminal, offering a convenient way to pass the time before their flights.
What about the financial industry or transportation sector might be impacted by this transition to the new Shymkent Airport terminal? [1] As the airport now accommodates up to 2,000 passengers per hour, additional transportation services may be required to transport all these passengers efficiently from the airport to their destinations. [2] The increased foot traffic at the airport might also spur more business opportunities for retailers and vendors, such as food stalls and duty-free shops, within the terminal.
