Black Market Work in Construction: Investigators Expose Network - Authorities Dismantle €5M Black Work Network in Construction Industry
Authorities have dismantled an extensive black work network operating in the construction industry across Hesse, Ludwigshafen am Rhein, and Berlin. The operation involved 290 personnel, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of assets worth millions.
Investigations began after suspicions of tax evasion and embezzlement of social security contributions surfaced. A total of eleven suspects, six men and five women, were identified as part of the network. They operated two construction companies, providing services worth around €5 million.
The group created and sold cover invoices, enabling them to pay out wages of approximately €3 million in black, evading tax and social security obligations. This illegal activity caused an estimated damage of €1.4 million to social security carriers. Today's raids targeted 23 residential and business premises, as well as two construction sites. Two asset arrest warrants were enforced to secure the companies' assets provisionally.
The dismantling of this network is a significant blow to black work practices in the construction industry. The suspects, who created and profited from a complex web of fraud, now face prosecution. Authorities continue to investigate the case, ensuring all involved are held accountable for their actions.
