Automotive sector of Conti to unveil objectives by summer 2025.

In a significant shift, Continental AG revealed plans to separate its Automotive division, as unveiled by the board on December 9th. Details on the spin-off have been further outlined following a supervisory board meeting on Wednesday.

The little-known offshoot, dubbed Aumovio, will be helmed by none other than Continental's current board member, Philipp von Hirschheydt, who took on the Automotive business responsibilities since May 20231. Aumovio aims to blend the best of the past with a visionary approach to future mobility.

Aumovio seeks to make its public debut on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the form of a Societas Europaea (SE) come September 20251.

With Aumovio establishing itself as an independent player, it aims to boost its market adaptability and cut-throat competition in the dynamic automotive landscape3.

A glimpse of Aumovio's short-term aspirations include:

  • Innovation Showcase: Exhibiting cutting-edge solutions like the Intelligent Driving Systems Luna and Astra at Auto Shanghai 2025, highlighting the importance of autonomous and safe driving4.
  • Operational Independence: As a separate entity, Aumovio intends to maximize its agility and competitiveness in the fast-paced automotive scene.
  • Shareholder Value: The spin-off is projected to boost shareholder value by focusing on vital segments and building on the proven success of Vitesco's spin-off3.

The spin-off is part of a broader restructuring process that might involve splitting or selling the Contitech division, with updates expected in the summer of 20253.

Key milestones for this enterprise include:- Approval and Groundwork: Approval from shareholders, who voted overwhelmingly in favor (99.95%) at the April 2025 Annual Meeting, is in the bag. Preparations are set to conclude by year-end, Q3 20251.- Listing and Launch: Aumovio is all set to go public in September 20253.
