Bangladesh and Kuwait Strengthen Economic Ties

On September 16, 2025, a significant business meeting took place at Al Boom Hall, Chamber Building, between a Bangladeshi delegation and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). The objective of the meeting was to forge a stronger and more collaborative economic partnership between the two nations.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by Mr. Firas M. Al-Oda, Assistant Director General of KCCI, who reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to deepening business cooperation. The Bangladeshi delegation represented various industries, including ready-made and knitted garments, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, and renewable energy.

Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary (Export) of Bangladesh's Ministry of Commerce, delivered a presentation on Bangladesh's dynamic business environment. He highlighted the strategic location, skilled workforce, demographic advantages, and progress in key sectors like garments, pharmaceuticals, IT, shipbuilding, renewable energy, and agro-processing as offering significant opportunities for Kuwaiti investors.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the State of Kuwait, Major General Syed Tareq Hussain, emphasized that the meeting continued the spirit of the 2016 Protocol of Cooperation and marked the beginning of a new chapter in the growing economic partnership. The meeting resulted in a mutual understanding to intensify cooperation for boosting trade and investment between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides discussed potential investment opportunities. The Kuwaiti side showed strong interest in increasing imports from Bangladesh and exploring outsourcing collaborations. Bangladeshi industry representatives presented investment proposals for the healthcare sector to their Kuwaiti counterparts.

Notably, the KCCI representatives plan to organize a delegation visit to Bangladesh to assess investment prospects. This visit is intended to provide a closer look at the opportunities available in Bangladesh's thriving industries.

Senior officials of KCCI and prominent Kuwaiti businessmen from relevant sectors attended the meeting. The meeting aimed to strengthen economic relations, explore opportunities, and build sustainable trade partnerships between the two countries.

The shared objective of the meeting was met, as both parties expressed a keen interest in fostering a stronger economic partnership. Mr. Khan extended an invitation to Kuwaiti business leaders to visit Bangladesh and witness these opportunities firsthand. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties looking forward to further collaboration in the future.
