Bank CEO Steven Cooper set to direct Fairstone Group, as per reports

Steven Cooper, a seasoned financial executive with a diverse career spanning the UK and international markets, has been appointed as the incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fairstone Group. The news was reported by Sky News and is set to be officially announced shortly.
Cooper brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as CEO at PNC Bank. Under his leadership, PNC Bank experienced a significant growth, doubling in size and engaging in acquisition discussions.
Before joining PNC Bank in May 2021, Cooper had a distinguished career at Bank of America, where he held various leadership positions overseeing key business units. His career experiences extend beyond the US, with stints in European, African, and Indian markets.
Cooper's appointment marks the succession of Fairstone's founding CEO, Lee Hartley, who is transitioning to the deputy chairman role. Hartley was succeeded by Sarah Mitchell at Fairstone Group, and her new role will be officially announced on October 1, 2025.
Fairstone Group, currently managing assets worth around £20bn and boasting a client base exceeding 120,000, employs over 1,250 individuals, including staff and regulated advisers. The company recently reported annual revenues exceeding £175m.
In addition to his time at Wells Fargo, Cooper has served as a non-executive director at Cashflows and held the position of chairman of Experian UK. His appointment is expected to help Fairstone Group continue its growth trajectory, with Cooper's stated objective at Fairstone being to double the company's size by the end of the decade.
Cooper's arrival at Fairstone Group follows a period of success and expansion for the company. With his extensive experience and proven track record of driving growth, Cooper is poised to lead Fairstone Group into its next chapter of development.
