Banking giant HSBC appoints global lead for real estate and asset investments.
HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) has announced the appointment of Karim Ghannam as the Global Head of Real Assets and Head of Alternatives, effective from August 8, 2025. Ghannam will be based in Singapore and will report to Joanna Munro, the CEO of Alternatives at HSBC AM.
With over 25 years of experience in alternatives and private markets, Ghannam brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. Most recently, he was the Chief Investment Officer at 8F Asset Management, an impact-focused private equity fund manager. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Deutsche Bank and Argan Capital.
In his new position, Ghannam will be responsible for the strategic development and management of HSBC AM’s real assets proposition. This proposition includes a suite of listed, direct, and indirect real asset investment strategies covering infrastructure and real estate. Ghannam will deliver comprehensive investment solutions to clients, leveraging Singapore’s role as a key international wealth hub to offer innovative alternative investment products to a broader range of investors.
The appointment is part of HSBC AM’s effort to enhance its real assets platform and respond to the increasing demand for innovative products and specialist support in alternative investments. Ghannam’s arrival at HSBC AM reflects the company’s focus on expanding its real assets business.

Ghannam will join HSBC AM on August 8, 2025, and will report into Joanna Munro in his new role.
