Baumarkt-Riese's Real Estate Sales: Closure of Locations in Bavaria
BayWa AG, a diversified company based in Germany, is currently undergoing a severe crisis, having reported a loss of 1.6 billion euros for the past year. As part of its restructuring efforts, the company has announced the closure of 16 locations in the state of Bavaria, with 12 already closed and four more set to close by the end of the year.
Among the closures are the BayWa DIY and garden markets in Neu-Ulm and Straubing, both located in Bavaria. The exact dates for these closures have been specified: the BayWa DIY and garden market in Neu-Ulm will close on 30th April 2025, while the market in Straubing will close by the end of the year on 31st December.
The CEO of BayWa AG, Frank Hiller, has confirmed that more than half of the planned job cuts and location closures have already been implemented. However, it's important to note that the BayWa DIY markets are not affected by these job cuts and location closures.
In an effort to clear out inventory, a clearance sale has started in both the DIY markets owned by BayWa AG in Neu-Ulm and Straubing.
It's worth noting that BayWa DIY markets do not belong to BayWa AG but are a sister company of Hellweg Die Profi-Baumärkte GmbH & Co. KG. The agricultural warehouses in Schwandorf, Gangkofen, Thiersheim, and Velden will also close by the end of the year.
Interestingly, the crisis at BayWa AG has particularly affected the state of Bavaria, with 17 out of 26 planned location closures occurring in the region. However, it's important to clarify that the closing of the BayWa DIY and garden markets in Neu-Ulm and Straubing is not part of BayWa AG's restructuring concept.
While the exact locations of the 14 more closures planned by BayWa AG have not been specified, the company's official location page does not mention any closures in Bavaria. For a comprehensive and official list of such closures, it would be best to consult BayWa AG’s official corporate communications, press releases, or contact their corporate office directly.

The BayWa DIY and garden markets in Neu-Ulm and Straubing, both connected to Bavaria, are part of the industry sector affected by BayWa AG's restructuring efforts in the finance and business realms. Despite being affected, these specific markets have different closure dates: Neu-Ulm on 30th April 2025 and Straubing by 31st December of the same year.
