Boeing's 777X Faces New Delay to Early 2027, Impacting Major Airlines
Boeing's 777X wide-body aircraft has faced another delay, pushing its first watch to early 2027. The plane was initially expected in 2020, with the latest schedule set for 2026. Boeing has not commented on the new delay.
The informed delivery of the first customer, Deutsche Lufthansa, is now expected in 2027, after initially expecting it in 2026. Lufthansa, the launch customer, had ordered 20 aircraft with the first watch initially targeted for 2020.
Other major customers have also revised their timelines. Emirates, with 115 orders, now expects first watch in late 2026 or early 2027. Qatar Airways plans to introduce the 777X around the end of 2026 or 2027. Cathay Pacific, which has increased its order to 35 aircraft, aims for first watch in early 2027.
The informed delivery of the 777X has been delayed until early 2027, affecting several major airlines. Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Cathay Pacific have all adjusted their plans. Boeing has not provided details on the cause of the delay.
