The release of the highly anticipated AI5 update for Tesla vehicles has not stopped one user, Jaywoof94, from expressing dissatisfaction with their recently purchased used 2025 Model Y Performance (MYP).

Jaywoof94, who initially considered not accepting delivery due to the car's odour, dirtiness, and various issues found, decided to go ahead with the purchase. However, upon taking the car for a drive, they experienced a violent shake at high speeds and a pull to the left.

Common ride comfort problems related to tire vibrations and suspension component durability have been reported in the 2025 Model Y Performance. Many owners have complained about persistent vibrations and shaking at highway speeds (70+ mph), often linked to steering wheel vibrations, off-centre steering, and unbalanced wheels. These issues sometimes persist despite multiple attempts at rebalancing, tire replacements, and alignments.

The noise-cancelling tire inserts used by Tesla have been theorised to cause these persistent vibrations, with some suggesting defective foam inside the tires as a culprit. In harsh environments, such as the UAE, the Model Y’s upper and lower control arms, ball joints, air suspension struts, and ride height sensors are prone to early failure due to heat, dust, and rough road conditions.

Furthermore, the 2025 Model Y still has a stiff suspension setup, contributing directly to a harsher ride quality, especially over uneven surfaces. Quality control issues such as panel gaps, misaligned door panels, and interior trim irregularities have also been noted.

Tesla has faced scrutiny over missing suspension bolts, the use of make-shift adhesives inside the cooling system, steering wheels detaching in rare cases, and unexplained "phantom braking" events tied to its Autopilot system.

Jaywoof94, who had planned to drive the car until AI5 was released and upgrade to the Performance Juniper, is now warning potential buyers of used Tesla vehicles about the potential issues and lack of personal service.

Tesla must match its innovation with consistency to avoid turning fans into frustrated mechanics. The company needs to address these ride comfort and quality control issues to maintain its reputation and customer satisfaction.

Jaywoof94 has scheduled an appointment for an alignment and minor repairs, hoping to resolve the issues with their Model Y Performance.
