In an exciting turn of events, BoulderLight Pictures, known for their success in producing critically acclaimed and audience-loved films, has entered into a new partnership with Paramount Pictures. This significant news for Paramount post-Skydance merger will see the duo of Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz leading a new genre label for the studio. Prior to this, the pair had been under a first-look deal over at New Line Cinema. However, they have now expressed their gratitude towards New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Discovery for their support and collaboration. Under the new deal, BoulderLight will develop, produce, and release a slate of high-concept, boundary-pushing films for Paramount Pictures. The first film they will work on after ending their contract with Warner Bros. in January 2026 is not yet publicly known. Paramount Pictures, known for their upcoming releases like the Dakota Fanning horror flick Vicious, is also developing a live-action Call of Duty and has brought the live-action Street Fighter onto its slate. This partnership with BoulderLight is expected to further bolster their genre offerings. BoulderLight has a diverse portfolio, with a track record in both the horror and comedy genres. Their recent major success includes the horror film Weapons, which grossed over $260 million worldwide. They have also produced films such as Friendship in the comedy genre. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures has recently acquired a feature package described as Heat meets Hell or High Water, titled High Side. Simultaneously, BoulderLight is shopping a TV series with sketch group Almost Friday and has a new Amityville movie in development. The BoulderLight duo will also have the option to participate as equity co-financiers on projects within the deal. This partnership has been met with excitement by Paramount Pictures Co-Chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg. Jason Blum, renowned for his work with Blumhouse Productions, has even predicted BoulderLight as the 'next Blumhouse'. Zach Cregger, the filmmaker of Weapons, previously worked with BoulderLight on Barbarian and Companion. The pair, Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz, have a track record of critically acclaimed and audience-loved films, and they look forward to building something tremendous for filmmakers and audiences with Paramount Pictures. This partnership is set to go into effect at the expiration of their deal with Warner Bros. in January 2026. With BoulderLight's genre expertise and Paramount's production capabilities, this collaboration promises an exciting future for both studios.
