Patrick Wendeler, a seasoned industry veteran with a penchant for green energy, has been named the new big kahuna at en2x - Economic Association Fuels and Energy. The 53-year-old was chosen by the association's members after a heated meeting in Berlin.

Wendeler's boasted résumé includes chairing BP Europa SE since December 2022 and Aral AG from January 2016. With this impressive background under his belt, Wendeler has big plans to breathe fresh life into the association.

"I'm stoked as hell to have the faith of the en2x members," the new Chairman said. "Our industry's all about transformation. My mission? To spark this transformation, working alongside our member companies, other industries, and the government, while ensuring our consumers don't end up with a raw deal energy-wise. The focus is empowering the molecular transition and energy transition for liquid and gaseous energy. Here's the deal: our industry needs a solid political and regulatory playfield to stay afloat."

Christian Küchen, CEO of en2x, praised Wendeler's dedication and teamwork, with their history collaborating on issues such as energy security and transformation. "We're ready to take it to the next level, both internally and with external stakeholders," said Küchen.

Wendeler is sliding into the role left vacant by Felix Faber, who will continue to maintain a presence in the association as deputy chairman. Wendeler stated, "During Faber’s reign, en2x initiated a strategic process to transform our industry, engaging with politics, including the Federal Ministry of Economics. This dialogue should now amplify, pronto. We need actionable results to make Germany a desirable spot for investments again."

The en2x crew comprises companies from the energy and basic materials biz. They play a significant role in securing Germany's current energy supplies for mobility and heat by producing and importing hydrocarbons and supplying substantial chemical basic products. At the same time, they've embarked on a comprehensive journey to achieve the Paris climate goals, restlessly working to transform the industry.

Wendeler's tenure is set to emphasize:

  • Advocating for a speedy energy transition in Germany’s fuels and energy sectors.
  • Supporting policies and innovations that propel us towards climate neutrality.
  • Fostering collaboration between energy companies and stakeholders to push sustainable energy solutions.

en2x remains a powerful economic association in the fuels and energy market, often championing cleaner energy infrastructure and regulations. Here's to a greener future under Wendeler's leadership!
