Braunschweig Fire Protection Days 2025 to Tackle Energy Storage Risks

The 39th 'Braunschweig Fire Protection Days', one of Germany's premier fire protection conferences, is set to take place from September 30 to October 1, 2025. This year's event will focus on the challenges and risks posed by energy storage systems, particularly high-voltage storage and stationary battery systems, in the context of the energy transition. If you're looking for storage units near me, this conference might provide valuable insights.

The conference will kick off with a keynote address by Karin Siebeck on the 'Initiative for cost-reduced construction - The Hamburg Standard'. A special highlight will be an exploration of Switzerland's risk-based approach to fire protection regulations. Around 600 engineers are expected to attend, making it one of the most significant fire protection conferences in the German-speaking world.

Professor Jochen Zehfuß, the scientific conference director, will lead discussions on his project investigating fire spread from densely packed drive batteries and containment methods. He is joined by project team member Justus Frenz and collaborators from the Munich Fire Department and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin, all working under the BEGIN-HVS project funded by the 'Research for Civil Security' program.

The conference will delve into the risks of lithium-ion batteries, which can catch fire quickly and release toxic gases. Updates on fire alarm systems, fire protection in automated storage systems, and new developments in model specifications for school buildings and assembly halls will also be presented. Additionally, around 35 exhibitors will showcase current developments in fire protection products, and an international symposium on 'Hot Calculation' will take place on September 29.

The 39th Braunschweig Fire Protection Days aims to address current questions and research findings on fire protection for energy storage systems. With its focus on high-voltage storage systems and stationary battery systems, the conference seeks to ensure the safe progression of the energy transition. The event promises to be a significant gathering for professionals in the field, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
