Bridge Maintenance on B 429 'Donkey's Way' Begins Phase 3 on October 2

Bridge maintenance on the federal road 429, known locally as 'Donkey's Way', is underway. The project aims to lift the current weight restriction, allowing heavier vehicles to cross. The third phase begins on October 2, with the bike and pedestrian path reopening on the same day.

The bridge, located west of Lahnfeld junction, is being strengthened and renewed. The existing bridge caps are being demolished and rebuilt using lightweight concrete. This phase, expected to last until winter 2025/2026, involves demolishing and renewing the bridge cap on the west side. Truck traffic can continue using the B 429 on one lane per direction during the works. The bike and pedestrian path on the eastern cap has been closed since June and will reopen on October 2. The road resurfacing has been completed, and the construction site will switch to the third phase on October 2. The goal of the structural maintenance is to lift the current weight restriction of maximum 3.5 tons after completion. A detour via surrounding paths and the state road 3359 (Lahnparkstraße) has been signposted in both directions. Future plans also include demolishing and renewing the bridge caps in the direction of Lahnfeld junction.

The bridge maintenance on the B 429 is progressing well, with the third phase beginning on October 2. The bike and pedestrian path will reopen on the same day, and the project is expected to be completed by winter 2025/2026. Upon completion, the bridge will be able to support heavier vehicles, lifting the current weight restriction.
