Businessman Sentenced for €106K Wage Fraud Scheme

A business owner in the courier and vehicle services sector has been sentenced to one year and six months in prison for a major wage fraud scheme. The verdict is final, with the sentence suspended on probation.

The business owner, whose name has not been disclosed, underreported the working hours of 25 employees. He failed to pay for travel time to loading points, loading times, and return travel time. Additionally, he falsified hours worked, leading to underpayment of social security contributions. Over five years, this resulted in a damage of over 106,000 euros to contribution collection agencies.

To further exploit his employees, the business owner recorded daytime working hours as night shifts. This allowed him to pay out tax- and contribution-free night supplements, adding to the overall deception.

The business owner's actions affected 208 cases, causing significant financial loss to the affected employees and agencies. Despite the prison sentence, it is suspended on probation, indicating that the business owner will not serve time in prison immediately.
