BYD's Overseas NEV Sales Surge 136% as Fleet Expansion Boosts Exports
BYD, a Chinese automaker, has seen a significant surge in overseas sales of its new energy vehicles (NEVs). Meanwhile, the company has expanded its fleet of cargo vessels to support its growing export business.
BYD's overseas NEV sales from January to August soared by 136.27% year-on-year, reaching 625,816 units. This impressive growth was driven by strong demand in international markets. In August alone, BYD sold 373,626 NEVs, marking a 0.15% increase from the same period last year and an 8.52% rise from July.
To accommodate this increased export volume, BYD has bolstered its fleet of cargo vessels. All eight vessels are now operational, with a combined annual transport capacity exceeding one million vehicles. The latest addition, BYD Jinan, entered service recently, completing the company's near-term fleet expansion. Notably, another vessel, BYD Zhengzhou, with a capacity of 7,000 vehicles, was delivered and commissioned in July.
BYD's overseas NEV sales continue to grow at a remarkable pace, reflecting the global appetite for its electric vehicles. The company's expanded fleet ensures it can efficiently meet this rising demand, with all eight cargo vessels now operational and capable of transporting over a million vehicles annually.
