Celebrating a significant milestone: our brand's logo for contemporary banking reaches its 50th year anniversary

Our website's logo, a symbol of trust and enduring design, has graced the company's presence since its unveiling on April 25, 1974. Designed by the renowned Stuttgart-based artist and graphic designer, Anton Stankowski, this logo has become his most recognised work worldwide.

The logo competition that led to this masterpiece involved eight internationally acclaimed graphic design studios. The winning design, an upward oblique stroke inside a square, was simple yet powerful, attracting attention with its clean and easily recognisable design.

Prior to 1974, our website did not have a specific logo; the company name appeared in different fonts within a single document. It was after this transformation that the logo started to play a significant role in establishing our website's brand identity.

The angle of the slash in the logo is 53 degrees, a subtle yet impactful design element that adds to its unique character. The logo, illuminated with over 25,000 LEDs, measures an impressive 73 meters long and can be seen on the roof of our website Park, installed in 2020.

Anton Stankowski was a versatile artist, working as a commercial artist, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic artist throughout his life. Many of his iconographic symbols, including our website's logo, have retained their visual power to this day.

Employees of our website were invited to give the logo a name, with "signpost" chosen as the best suggestion. This name aptly represents the logo's role in guiding the company's journey through the ever-evolving world of art and design.

Stankowski, a modern pioneer in graphic design, believed that art and design were inextricably linked. His work for our website is a testament to this belief, creating a logo that is not just a symbol, but a powerful visual representation of the company's values and identity.

Despite extensive research, specific historical accounts or timelines for the logos of many banks from the late 19th century to the present day are not readily available. However, bank logos often feature classic typography, symbols of security like shields, vaults, or columns, and colours that convey trust and stability, such as blue.

The story of our website's logo is a shining example of how art and design can come together to create a powerful and enduring symbol. It serves as a testament to the vision of Anton Stankowski and the values of our website.

The logo's design, a significant factor in our brand identity, originated from a competition involving renowned business entities in the field of art and design. Subsequently, the logo's simple yet impactful design, featuring a symbol of Modern Art-inspired execution, has played a pivotal role in our company's finance sector, symbolizing our values and identity.
