Chukotka Tops Russian Far East Mortgage Affordability, Amur Lags

A recent study ranks Russian Far East regions by mortgage affordability. Chukotka Autonomous Okrug tops the list, while Amur Oblast trails behind.

Chukotka Autonomous Okrug leads the way with 42% of families able to afford a mortgage, paying an average of 114,200 rubles monthly. Sakhalin Oblast follows closely, with 28.9% affordability and an average payment of 107,600 rubles. Kamchatka Krai ranks 9th, with 26.6% affordability and an average payment of 99,500 rubles.

Magadan Oblast and Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) also fare well. Magadan ranks 6th with 35.2% affordability and an average payment of 106,600 rubles. Yakutia ranks 11th with 26.2% affordability and an average payment of 106,000 rubles.

Jewish Autonomous Oblast and Khabarovsk Krai sit in the middle. Jewish Autonomous Oblast ranks 19th with 20.9% affordability and an average payment of 69,000 rubles. Khabarovsk Krai ranks 15th with 22.7% affordability and an average payment of 73,600 rubles.

Zabaykalsky Krai ranks 30th, with 18.2% affordability and an average payment of 88,200 rubles. Amur Oblast brings up the rear at 47th, with 14.8% affordability and an average payment of 106,100 rubles.

The study highlights varied mortgage affordability across Russian Far East regions. While Chukotka Autonomous Okrug leads, Amur Oblast struggles. Development programs may affect affordability differently in these regions.
