City bus association marks its two decade anniversary

After two decades of serving the public transportation needs of the city, the 20th anniversary celebration of the Willich Citizens' Buses was held recently. The event was graced by several dignitaries and local groups, making it a memorable occasion for all.

The managing director of Willich City Works, Tafil Pufja, was present as the main sponsor, emphasising the organisation's commitment to the service. Politicians such as Mayor Christian Pakusch, state parliamentarian Guido Goertz, and the First and Technical Deputy Mayor Gregor Nachtwey were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of the Willich Citizens' Buses for the mobility of the city's citizens.

The United Men's Choir 1820 Willich, founded in 1820, provided musical entertainment for the gathering. The choir, whose specific founder's name is not available, had previously participated in the bus inauguration in 2007 and the 10-year anniversary celebration. The band "The Triples" added to the lively atmosphere with their live music performances.

Chairman Werner Kruse welcomed the guests in the church garden, and the approximately 120 volunteers driving the Citizens' Buses in Anrath, Schiefbahn, and Willich were thanked by the politicians for their dedicated service. The Citizens' Bus Association also invited drivers, partners, sponsors, and presidents of friendly Citizens' Bus Associations from Anrath, St. Tönis, and Schiefbahn, but no new information about their presence was provided.

The United Men's Choir 1820 Willich was not involved in the celebration's entertainment, as some may have expected given their previous performances. Despite this, the guests enjoyed the celebration, which ended late in the evening, marking a successful 20 years for the Willich Citizens' Buses.

The celebration was a testament to the community spirit and the importance of public transportation in Willich. As the buses continue to serve the city, it is expected that more such celebrations will be held in the future, bringing together the city's residents in celebration of this essential service.
