City Hall employees receive bonus, as announced by Mayor Raymond Mipa

Fresh Take:

The long-awaited payouts for around 3,000 employees at Cebu City Hall are finally on the horizon, as the election ban was lifted on May 12, 2025. Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia confirmed via phone interview on Tuesday, May 13, that he's given the go-ahead for the release of incentives worth approximately P35,000 for regular and casual employees, and P5,000 for job order personnel. However, the precise timing of when the funds will hit their accounts remains uncertain.

Typically, the money is downloaded to their accounts through ATMs during the night, but Mayor Garcia couldn't guarantee that it would be tonight or tomorrow. The Charter Day bonus is an annual incentive given to all regular and permanent staff at Cebu City Hall in celebration of its founding anniversary on February 24.

As of this week, the bonuses are set to reach amounts of P35,000 for regular and casual employees, and P5,000 for temporary job order employees, up from the initial amount approved by the Cebu City Council on March 26. But the disbursement of public funds was stalled due to the election ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The election ban on disbursing public funds began on March 28 and concluded on May 12, the day prior to the national election. It's worth noting that the release of employee bonuses may be subject to delays due to the aforementioned administrative concerns and the timing of the city's budget approval process.

  1. The general news in Cebu City is vibrant, as the post-election season has led to the release of long-awaited bonuses for Cebu City Hall employees, worth around P35,000 for regular and casual employees, and P5,000 for job order personnel.
  2. Amidst the political landscape of Cebu, decisions involving personal-finance matters such as the annual Charter Day bonuses for Cebu City Hall employees are finally underway, with the city council approving increased amounts this year.
  3. With the conclusion of the election ban on May 12, 2025, the finance department of Cebu City Hall is gearing up for the disbursement of over P35 million in bonuses to its employees, marking a significant event in local politics and employee welfare.
