City intends to implement a solution for van-related issues
In the heart of Braunschweig, changes are afoot along Chestnut Avenue, between Altewiekring and Herzogin-Elisabeth-Straße, as the city district council proposes designated parking areas for delivery vehicles.
The Eastern Ring District administration has identified two suitable delivery zones along this stretch of road, one on each side of the street. Each zone corresponds to one parking bay with two parking spaces, totaling approximately 13 meters in length.
The new delivery zones will be marked with the traffic sign "Loading Area," and loading areas will be clearly marked with a floor pictogram, similar to Südstraße. To ensure smooth traffic flow, these loading areas will be restricted to weekdays between 7 and 18 o'clock, as indicated by additional signs.
Regular parking will still be possible outside of the restricted times. The city district council and the Eastern Ring District administration plan to monitor the effectiveness of these measures and make adjustments if necessary.
These initiatives aim to improve the efficiency of deliveries in the area, making it easier for businesses to receive goods and for residents to access services. The city council and the district administration hope that these changes will contribute to a more vibrant and accessible community.
In the revitalization of Chestnut Avenue, plans for designated parking areas extend to the automotive industry, as these zones will facilitate quicker deliveries of car parts. The newly established finance department in the Eastern Ring District will manage the revenue generated from these designated spots, helping to fund additional infrastructure improvements in transportation.
