Exciting Times for Solingen's Sparkasse

It's been almost two and a half years of hard work, but Solingen's city center finally gets a fresh update with the opening of its brand new Sparkasse main branch at Neumarkt. The grand unveiling took place on Monday morning, signaling the start of business operations.

A Significant Upgrade - 24,300 Square Meters of Space

The newly constructed building, erected on the old parking lot area at Neumarkt, is more than just a new location for the Sparkasse. It's a significant project, not just for the Sparkasse, but for the urban development of Solingen's city center as well. This impressive structure boasts approximately 24,300 square meters of total area. The Sparkasse calls around 44 percent of this expansive space home, while the remaining space is shared by the Max Leven Memorial, event spaces, offices, apartments, and a parking garage.

The previous main branch, built in 1955, was ready for an upgrade, with only about 10,700 square meters effectively usable according to the Sparkasse. Planning for the new building started in 2014, and the architectural firm Auer Weber was selected as the competition winner. The building was officially handed over in March 2025, and employees began moving in during May. With the business center now fully operational, the transformation is complete.

Grunwald: "A Strong Commitment to Our City"

According to Stefan Grunwald, the chairman of the board of Sparkasse Solingen, this building symbolizes a strong commitment to the city, customer proximity, and modern work environments. The opening of the new main branch is a crucial aspect of their strategy and a significant milestone in their ongoing transformation process.

With approximately 350 employees working in the new headquarters, the internal departments are now conveniently located on-site. The new spatial concept features flexible workstations instead of fixed offices. Employees can book workstations, meeting rooms, or retreat zones as needed or work from home.

Sparkasse Solingen: Celebrating the New Beginning

To celebrate the opening, Sparkasse Solingen offers special conditions from July 1st to August 31st. Customers receive a 50% discount on the sales charge for selected top funds with personal advice, providing an excellent opportunity to optimize their investment strategy with the help of Sparkasse experts.

As the festivities continue, further promotions are planned for the fall. From September, an offer for Sparkasse bonds is in the works. In November and December, the focus will be on the topic of provision.

Despite the lack of detailed information on the architect, construction timeline, and exact facilities offered at the new main branch, the celebration is on! Check out Sparkasse Solingen's Instagram (@sparkasse.sg) for updates on their ongoing opening action.

The massive 24,300 square meter Sparkasse building not only houses the main branch but also accommodates the Max Leven Memorial, event spaces, offices, apartments, and a parking garage, marking a substantial boost in Solingen's urban development and business landscape. With a strong commitment to Solingen, the Sparkasse's new, modern workspace, hosting approximately 350 employees, aims to revolutionize finance, investing, and real-estate services, offering special conditions from July 1st to August 31st for customers looking to optimize their investment strategies through personalized advice.
