Coca-Cola Secures Agreement with Syracuse University for Exclusive Beverage Serving Rights
Syracuse University Partners with The Coca-Cola Company
Syracuse University has entered into a new partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, making Coca-Cola the official non-alcoholic beverage partner for the university and its athletics department. This agreement, which took effect on July 1, 2023, follows a year-long strategic evaluation process.
The partnership spans 10 years, running through June 2035. John Wildhack, Athletics Director, anticipates that this partnership will enhance the gameday experience for fans.
Coca-Cola products will be available across the campus, including in vending machines and dining facilities. A variety of Coca-Cola beverages will be featured, such as Coca-Cola, Coke Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Powerade, Sprite, Fanta, Dasani, smartwater, BODYARMOR, fairlife, Gold Peak, and Minute Maid. The partnership with Powerade is specifically mentioned to fuel Syracuse University's student-athletes both on and off the playing field.
Coca-Cola will be involved in athletic events as the official beverage partner. The JMA Wireless Dome, home to various sports events, will recognize Coca-Cola as the exclusive non-alcoholic beverage sponsor. For instance, women's basketball games will feature Coca-Cola prominently.
The partnership caters to the diverse needs of Syracuse University's urban community, which includes over 30,000 students, faculty, staff, and thousands of annual visitors. It symbolizes a significant shift in beverage suppliers for Syracuse University, moving away from Pepsi after nearly 30 years.
The evaluation process was led by a working group consisting of representatives from various departments, ensuring the partnership aligns with the university's values and goals. John Papazoglou, Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, expresses excitement about the partnership with The Coca-Cola Company.
This partnership is expected to provide a range of benefits to Syracuse University, including increased revenue, enhanced brand visibility, and improved access to high-quality beverages for students and athletes. The partnership involves Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast.
