CoMoUK's Edinburgh Mobility Hub Trial a Success, Plans for More Hubs Across UK
CoMoUK has concluded its successful pop-up mobility hub trial in Edinburgh. The temporary facility, designed to promote active travel and reduce emissions, has been praised by local residents and Laura Wright, Scotland director at CoMoUK.
The Edinburgh hub, operational from late July to mid-September on Pennywell Road, served as a base for walking, wheeling, and cycling activities. It was well-received by the local community, with requests for permanent hubs in the future.
CoMoUK states that mobility hubs bring together various transport options and community services, reducing car usage and congestion. Following Edinburgh, the hub has been relocated to Hawick in the Scottish Borders, where it will serve the community until mid-November. The success of the Edinburgh hub has led to plans for four more pop-up mobility hubs in other parts of Scotland, including Ayrshire, Stirling, and Glasgow. Additionally, CoMoUK will open pop-up mobility centers in London, Manchester, and Birmingham in the coming days.
The conclusion of the Edinburgh mobility hub trial marks a successful step towards encouraging active travel and reducing emissions. With positive community feedback and plans for further hubs, CoMoUK continues its mission to promote sustainable transport options across the UK.
