Competition entitled REVIERPIONIER extends its duration to the year 2029.

The southern region of Saxony-Anhalt is witnessing a surge in innovative ideas aiming to drive sustainable development and community growth, thanks to the REVIERPIONIER Prize. This competition, running until 2029, invites citizens, associations, non-profits, schools, and kindergartens from districts like Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Burgenlandkreis, Mansfeld-Südharz, Saalekreis, and Halle (Saale) to participate.

Dr. Reiner Haseloff, the Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, has praised the growing interest and willingness of the population to shape the structural change. The funding allocation for the competition recognizes this commitment.

One of the notable winners of the competition is the educational center Wolfen-Bitterfeld e.V., which was victorious in 2025 with the project "Green Skills: Apprentices shape a sustainable future". This project focuses on training young people in renewable energies, resource conservation, and circular economy.

Another winner, the Schwemme e.V. from Halle (Saale), triumphed in 2023 with the NEB project "LEHM - BAU - KULTUR", securing a European grant of 2.15 million euros.

The kindergarten "Loewenzahn" Sangerhausen has also made a significant impact through its REVIERPIONIER project "From the meadow to the WWW". This initiative combines digital education with nature experiences, promoting MINT skills early, strengthening safe handling of technology, and making the balance between screen time and nature consciously experienceable. The kindergarten won the audience award in 2024 and was a runner-up in 2023.

Digital formats, such as digital birdhouses, are used in the "From the meadow to the WWW" project to meaningfully connect the real and digital worlds.

The competition offers annual prize money of one million euros for the implementation of local project ideas between 2023 and 2025. State Minister and Minister of Culture, Rainer Robra, views the increasing number of creative ideas as a signal for a future-oriented and communal development.

Future competition years may address current challenges in structural change with annual thematic foci, according to Rainer Robra. The REVIERPIONIER project promotes knowledge transfer, makes sustainability tangible, and supports green jobs in the Central German region.

The competition is receiving approximately 5.6 million euros from the federal program STARK. With over 300 projects submitted in the first year and around 500 ideas this year, the REVIERPIONIER competition continues to inspire and engage the community.

Minister President Dr. Reiner Haseloff considers REVIERPIONIER a success story, highlighting its potential to shape the future of Saxony-Anhalt in a sustainable and innovative manner.
