New Jaecoo 5 SUV Arrives in UK, Challenging Ford Puma and Jeep Avenger
The UK automotive market is set to welcome a new player with the arrival of the Jaecoo 5, a family SUV from the growing Chinese brand, Jaecoo. Scheduled to hit the roads later in 2025, the Jaecoo 5 promises to deliver a blend of versatility, comfort, and style, tailored for both urban and long-distance driving.
The Jaecoo 5 will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed before the first deliveries to customers, expected in October 2025. Priced competitively from £24,505 OTR for the Pure trim and £28,000 OTR for the Luxury trim, the SUV aims to undercut its key compact SUV competitors, including the Ford Puma.
Key specifications and features of the Jaecoo 5 include a 1.6-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine producing 145-147 bhp and 275 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. The SUV offers three driving modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport - to cater to varied driving styles.
Comfortable accommodation for five adults is assured, with two rear ISOFIX points, while the boot space expands to up to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded. Over 35 storage compartments throughout the cabin ensure ample space for daily essentials.
The exterior design of the Jaecoo 5 takes visual cues from nature, with an upright silhouette, wide shoulders, and a signature waterfall grille inspired by natural mountain ridges.
The Pure trim comes equipped with automatic halogen headlights, a six-speaker Sony audio system, level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), six-way manually adjustable front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and double-layered silent glass for a premium cabin feel.
Stepping up to the Luxury trim adds an eight-speaker Sony audio system, cooled wireless phone charging, six-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a tilt and slide panoramic sunroof (1.45m2), cooled front storage box, dual-zone climate control, and enhanced interior finishes.
Both versions of the Jaecoo 5 will come with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty, and three years of RAC Home Start cover will be included as standard. Orders for the Jaecoo 5 can be placed later this summer through Omoda and Jaecoo UK's nationwide dealership network, now in 75 locations.
More details of the electric version of the Jaecoo 5 will be confirmed soon. The company, one of the growing number of Chinese brands offering new cars in the UK, is set to make a significant impact with the Jaecoo 5's dynamic debut.
