Construction and Protection Prioritized: Approval Given for FÜ17 Ring Road between Veitsbronn and Obermichelbach

Fürth's road construction authority has announced the completion of the long-awaited asphalting of Kreisstraße FÜ17 between Veitsbronn and Obermichelbach. Originally scheduled for 2024, the project was delayed by a year due to financial constraints, with the works now officially reopened on July 18, 2025.

The road renovation, a priority for the district, covers approximately 2.2 kilometers of the important traffic artery connecting Fürth and Erlangen. The project was implemented in four construction phases to minimise disruption to traffic flow.

The total costs for the renovation amounted to approximately 520,000 euros, with 50,000 euros allocated for measures to improve cycle traffic guidance. These improvements were made at the Weihergasse / Obermichelbacher Straße / Rothenberger Weg / Am Schelmengraben intersection and on the accompanying sidewalk and cycle path on Kreisstraße FÜ17.

Additionally, supplementary asphalt work was carried out on the newly designed cycle gear at the Veitsbronn town entrance. The road surface renewal was planned in close collaboration with the municipalities and specialist planners to ensure structural integrity and long-term traffic safety.

County Administrator Bernd Obst, Veitsbronn town councilor Richard Redlingshofer, Obermichelbach Mayor Bernd Zimmermann, and representatives of the county council factions and the state building authority were present at the reopening.

With the completion of the works, traffic can now flow unimpeded on this heavily used route. The FÜ17 section has been on the county's renovation list, which has been conducting road condition surveys for several years. This marks another step forward in the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the district's road infrastructure.
