Construction of Amga Road's asphalt layer commenced
The Amga road project, a significant part of the larger plan for the development of road infrastructure in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russia, is making steady progress. This regional road, spanning 704.62 km from Maiya to Chapchylgan, is expected to be fully asphalted in the coming years at an estimated cost of approximately 17 billion rubles.
Construction has already begun on a 7-kilometer section of the Amga automobile road, between the 148th and 155th kilometer. According to the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, the road will be built to new standards, aligning with the national project "Safe and Quality Roads" from 2019 to 2023.
As part of this national project, 87 km of the Amga road was brought to the normative condition from 2019 to 2023. Work is also planned on objects with a length of 159 km on the Amga road as part of Yakutia's road activity plan for 2024-2028. By 2028, it is planned to lay 159 kilometers of pavement along the Amga road, furthering the development of road infrastructure in the republic.
The Amga road project is considered extremely important for the development of the Amginsky District, and its completion is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for people in the area. The Zarechye region is also expected to benefit from this infrastructure development.
Despite the challenges posed by the region's harsh climatic conditions, including permafrost, the project is moving forward. However, specific updates on cost, progress, or planned completion by 2028 are not currently available. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, checking recent announcements from the Sakha Republic’s regional transport ministry, Russian federal infrastructure agencies, or local government press releases would be necessary.
