Court Orders Compensation for Train Derailment Caused by Company's Negligence
A court in Astana has ruled on a case involving an Amtrak train derailment that occurred in August 2022. The incident, which resulted in one of the cargo train's wagons coming off the tracks, has led to a compensation order. The specialized interregional economic court heard the case, which involved AO 'A.V.Z', a company convicted for its role in the Amtrak train derailment. The court found that the incident was caused by violations during the repair of the first wagon's bogie, carried out by AO 'A.V.Z'. The Amtrak train derailment resulted in significant expenses for the plaintiff, AO 'N', totaling 14.4 million tenge. These costs were attributed to delays and repair work necessitated by the Amtrak train incident. In its ruling, the court ordered AO 'A.V.Z' to pay compensation of 14.4 million tenge to AO 'N' for the damage caused by the Amtrak train accident in August 2022.
