The Main Customs Office Krefeld recently took part in EMPACT Action Days, a Europe-wide initiative to combat serious and organized crime. During week 39, 73 control officers were deployed, leading to 31 inspections and the collection of 128 personal records.

The Financial Control of Illegal Employment (FKS) team focused on human trafficking and illegal employment. They inspected various businesses, with a significant number of checks carried out in gastronomic establishments at Mönchengladbach's market hall. The operation resulted in eight suspected cases of withholding and misappropriation of wages, along with numerous immediate notification violations.

Four of these suspected wage cases were confirmed during the inspection of local eateries. The FKS team's efforts are part of coordinated European operations involving law enforcement and experts to tackle organized crime.

The EMPACT Action Days, coordinated by the European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats (EMPACT), saw the Main Customs Office Krefeld successfully identify and investigate multiple suspected cases of illegal employment and wage withholding. These operations demonstrate Europe's commitment to combating serious and organized crime.
