Customs Office Augsburg Inspects Hotel Industry, Initiates 17 Proceedings

On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Main Customs Office Augsburg conducted inspections in the local hotel and catering industry. This year's operation saw an increase in activated investigation officers compared to previous years, with 64 deployment forces involved.

The inspection resulted in 6 criminal proceedings and 11 administrative offence proceedings being initiated on the same day. This action was part of the customs office's risk-oriented, holistic inspection approach, which includes nationwide focus inspections, regional special inspections, and local inspection days throughout the year.

The inspection targeted 20 businesses in the area of responsibility, covering Swabia and Region 10 in Upper Bavaria. During the inspection, 89 people were questioned about their employment status. The hotel and catering industry is subject to regulations such as the Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG), with the statutory minimum wage being 12.82 euros gross per hour since January 1, 2025.

The increase in activated investigation officers and the successful initiation of criminal and administrative offence proceedings demonstrate the customs authority's commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring compliance in the local hotels near me.
