Target Partners with DTC Kitchenware Brand Caraway

In a move to broaden its product offerings and expand its retail presence, Target has partnered with Caraway, a direct-to-consumer (DTC) kitchenware brand. This partnership allows Caraway's cookware products, including sets, fry pans, sauté pans in cream and a limited-edition slate color, bakeware, and a tea kettle, to be sold at 350 Target brick-and-mortar locations.

The partnership is a significant step for Caraway, as it broadens its reach and expands its physical retail presence. Caraway's founder, Jordan Nathan, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that Target has always been a leader in the kitchen category, and they are thrilled to bring their non-toxic and eco-friendly collection of cookware into Target stores nationwide.

This partnership follows Caraway's $35 million funding round led by McCarthy Capital, which was intended for creating new products, hiring more employees, and investing in marketing and customer experience. The funding is also being used to further develop Caraway's product line, hire additional staff, and enhance its marketing and customer experience efforts.

Target has been actively growing its third-party marketplace, Target Plus, aiming to increase its gross merchandise value from $1 billion to over $5 billion within five years. This suggests that Target is expanding partnerships with a variety of brands, potentially including DTC brands, to broaden product offerings both online and in stores.

The partnership with Caraway is not the first time Target has collaborated with DTC brands. Previously, Target has partnered with brands such as Allbirds, Casper, and Who Gives a Crap to sell their products both in Target stores and online.

The rollout of Caraway products in Target stores took place on Sunday. Target has also recently expanded its kitchen offerings by adding Tupperware products to its online and in-store assortment earlier this month.

The partnership and funding round were announced on Tuesday, according to a press release emailed to Retail Dive. This partnership provides Caraway with a new way to reach customers, allowing the brand to leverage Target's extensive retail network and customer base.
