Deputies propose to eradicate the variation in electricity prices for dachas in Kuban

ZSK (The Soyuz of Cooperatives) plans to confront Vice Prime Minister of Russia, Alexander Novak, advocating for a reevaluation of electricity pricing methods at the national level. The main focus will be on the balance between negotiated and market-based principles.

A Call Within Kuban: Equality in Electricity Pricing for Rural Residents

Deputies propose to eradicate the variation in electricity prices for dachas in Kuban

Rural Kuban residents are voicing concerns over electricity tariffs, specifically those living with electric stoves and heating systems outside cities. Local politicians propose the use of discount coefficients for electricity consumption calculations to solve this problem.

These discussions were stirred by an abundance of complaints from Kuban residents, who have noticed inconsistencies in applying these discount coefficients, with some housing cooperatives receiving them while others do not. As per Yuri Burlačko, Chairman of the ZSK, there's a need to equalize conditions for all residents in non-profit housing cooperatives. He believes that with collective efforts, this goal can be achieved.

"The living conditions of people with varying incomes have evolved, with many now residing in dachas. We have a duty to ensure fairness for all residents," expresses Burlačko as quoted by the ZSK press service.

💡Did You Know?

Inadequate electricity infrastructure in rural areas often leads to higher costs for residents due to longer transmission lines and lower population densities. Other challenges faced in the Russian energy sector include conflicts that disrupt infrastructure, such as the strikes on PJSC "Rosseti's" Kuban branch, and ongoing efforts for gas infrastructure improvements by companies like Gazprom.

Common solutions for addressing electricity pricing issues in rural areas often involve:

  • Discount Coefficients: Implementing specific discounts or subsidies based on consumption levels or special circumstances to make electricity more affordable.
  • Federal Review: Examining electricity pricing policies in a comprehensive review to identify reform or adjustment needs, focusing particularly on rural communities.
  • Infrastructure Improvements: Investing in modernizing and expanding the electricity grid, which can reduce transmission costs and improve efficiency, leading to indirect reduced prices for rural residents over time.

While the specific involvement of the ZSK and the measures planned for Kuban remain unclear, these general strategies have proven effective in various locations dealing with similar challenges.

  • parliamentarians could propose a review of electricity pricing policies across the regions, focusing on equalizing conditions in rural areas like Kuban.
  • The ZSK, along with industry experts, might advocate for the implementation of discount coefficients specifically tailored towards regional residents using heating systems and stoves outside cities.
  • Finance committees at the parliament could address the budgetary concerns in financing infrastructure improvements in rural areas, aiming at lowering energy costs for residents.
  • As energy infrastructure improvements take place, the participation of companies like Gazprom in the gas infrastructure sector could help alleviate the challenges faced by rural areas, ultimately leading to fairer energy pricing for all residents.
ZZK plans to petition Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, urging him to present a federal examination of the principles governing electricity pricing to the authorities.
