Disruptions halt scheduled train journeys to Sylt, causing delays

Rail passengers travelling to and from the island of Sylt are still experiencing disruptions, as a major repair of the points system is necessary to restore regular train traffic. The issue, which occurred at Lehnshallig, has been ongoing since early morning.

Initially, the railway had anticipated that delays could continue until September 20, but with the current progress, this seems unlikely. The maintenance and repair responsibility for the disruption at the junction station in Niebüll between Westerland and Sylt lies with DB Netz AG.

The affected section on the rail route to and from Sylt between Niebuhr and Westerland currently supports only single-line train operation. As a result, restrictions in train traffic are still in place, and no trains were able to run between 5.45 AM and 9.30 AM, a situation that has not changed.

Despite the challenges, the railway's technicians are working diligently to resolve the issue. The repairs are progressing well, and regular train traffic is expected to resume from tomorrow morning. The spokeswoman has stated that the repairs are going well, and trains may run regularly again from tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately, car trains are also affected by the disruptions, adding to the inconvenience for passengers. It is important to note that restrictions in train traffic are still in place, and passengers are advised to check the latest updates before their journey.

As the repairs continue, the railway is committed to keeping passengers informed and ensuring a swift return to normal service. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
