Disruptions prevalent on Tuesday, 6th May, due to French railway strike

Strike action by SNCF railway workers continues, with the Île-de-France region anticipated to feel a greater impact compared to other territories. The striking workers are notably active in the Paris region, where disruptions to RER services are expected.

On the second day of the SNCF strike, Paris will feel the brunt of the disruptions. The city's RER trains will see significant setbacks, with workers rallying hard in the region. The conflict is over a demand for a new scheduling software, deemed too restrictive by drivers and controllers, who complain about sudden changes in their work organization without prior notice. Controllers also want a 100 euro monthly increase in their work bonus, reports BFMTV.

Disruptions will be at their peak in the Paris region on May 6. For the RER B, expect one out of two trains to run north, and two out of three south of the line, with the Gare du Nord connection maintained. The RER C will see one out of two trains, while the RER D will run with four out of five. Lines N, V, H, and U will experience one out of two trains each, but there won't be any disruptions on lines J, K, L, P, and R.

Wondering about the May holidays? SNCF will announce the forecasts for TGV trains in the morning of May 6. They aim to ensure smooth travel for almost all passengers, canceling some trains if necessary but offering alternatives for the same day. Trained managers and non-striking employees will fill in for the strikers. However, the number of these replacements remains uncertain, especially with the ASCT controller's collective planning for massive mobilization.

Despite the focus on the new scheduling software, the strikes are primarily about improving working conditions, addressing the overhaul of the traction bonus, and revaluing controllers' work bonuses. The unions involved are CGT-Cheminots and SUD-Rail [2][5]. Controversies about the organization of work and the implementation of new tools for controllers are also part of the issues fuelling the strikes. For the most accurate information on the scheduling software demand, consult official union statements or recent news updates from SNCF or the involved unions.
