Downtown Connector Roadworks Scheduled for the Weekend Ahead
Saturday in Atlanta: A Mix of Music, Sports, and Roadwork
This Saturday, Atlanta is buzzing with a variety of events that cater to different tastes. While some are heading to Piedmont Park for the second day of the Shaky Knees music festival, others are preparing for an evening of legendary performances at State Farm Arena and an exciting afternoon of sports at Bobby Dodd Stadium and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
However, it's important to note that there will be some roadwork taking place in the city that may affect travel plans.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday and lasting until 12 a.m. on Sunday, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will be carrying out a road renewal project on I-75/I-85 southbound between 17th Street and University Avenue. During this period, at least three right lanes will be closed, potentially causing delays.
If you're a music lover, you might want to catch Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, and Stephanie Mills, who are performing at State Farm Arena at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts can catch Georgia Tech as they take on Temple University at 4:30 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium, or Atlanta United as they face San Diego FC at the same time at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
As always, it's a good idea to plan your route accordingly to avoid any inconvenience caused by the roadwork. Enjoy your Saturday in Atlanta!
