Dua Lipa's New Album Falls Slightly Short of Securing the Top Spot

Dua Lipa's 2024 didn't go as she anticipated. Her latest album, Radical Optimism, didn't quite soar globally like her previous tunes. The album's singles failed to capture the planet's attention as successfully as those from her previous full-lengths did. It seems the album's life cycle might be nearing its end, but Lipa's not taking a break.

The British-Albanian pop sensation is once again making waves in the U.K. charts with a fresh release. Her first live album, Live From The Royal Albert Hall, was an instant hit upon release, barely missing out on securing another No. 1 for her.

The new album debuted on four different U.K. charts, but only managed to crack the top 10 on one of them. Live From The Royal Albert Hall entered the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 2, narrowly missing out on the top spot yet again.

Lipa has now scored four top 10s on the list of the U.K.'s top-selling downloaded albums. All of her projects that have reached this ranking peaked inside the top two, with half of them even reaching the top spot. The other half stalled just short, including her latest release.

Her self-titled album, which made her a household name in the U.K., fell just short of claiming the top spot. Both of her subsequent albums, Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism, reached No. 1, but Live From The Royal Albert Hall had to settle for second place, at least for now.

Who managed to outdo one of the world's biggest pop stars to secure the top spot? The Official Album Downloads chart is dominated this week by the 2024 edition of Now That's What I Call Christmas, a compilation of some of the most beloved holiday tunes.

Live From The Royal Albert Hall also made its debut on three other U.K. charts, but it didn't quite scale the heights it did on the download-only chart. Lipa's latest release also entered the Official Album Sales (No. 15), Official Physical Albums (No. 17), and the main ranking of the U.K.'s most-consumed albums (No. 45) charts.
