Eckerts Hotel Wins Second Sustainability Award for Green Initiatives
Eckerts Hotel and Restaurant in Bamberg has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability. The business has received its second award from the Free State of Bavaria for its environmental and climate efforts. The award comes as the business continues to invest in green initiatives, including the installation of an electric charging station and improvements to waste separation.
Eckerts' dedication to sustainability is evident in its infrastructure. The business meets stringent criteria, such as using 100% green electricity and 95% LED lighting, and avoiding softeners. Its managing director, Christoph Horn, attributes their success to these eco-friendly measures.
The business's hydroelectric power plants play a significant role. Operated by Stadtwerke Bamberg, these plants supply electricity for approximately 1000 two-person households. This means that Eckerts' operations are not only sustainable but also contribute to the local community's energy needs.
The business's commitment to sustainability has been recognised by various organisations. Deputy Mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp presented Eckerts with a follow-up certificate from the Environmental and Climate Pact. This pact is a joint effort between the Bavarian State Government, BIHK, BHT, and vbw.
Eckerts Hotel and Restaurant continues to set a high standard for sustainability in the hospitality industry. Its latest award recognises not only its use of renewable energy and efficient lighting but also its innovative approach to waste management and guest engagement. By offering guests the option to opt out of daily room cleaning in exchange for planting a tree, Eckerts demonstrates that sustainability can be both environmentally responsible and customer-focused.
