Elegance and Craftsmanship Spreading throughout the Taunus Range
Revamped Ride Out
Hold on to your leather-gloved steering wheels, because the 40th edition of the HMSC Oldtimer Rallye rolled out more than just a drive - it was a 150 km journey through the Taunus that felt like a trip back in time. With creaky engines, breakdowns, tales, and camaraderie, history roared to life. Here's the down-and-dirty on what went down along the way.

The Lowdown
The heart of Wiesbaden throbbed with engine rhythm as the 40th HMSC Oldtimer Rallye revved to life promptly at 7:30 AM. The technical inspection marked the kickoff, with oil changes, check-up inspections, and tailpipe inspections. A polite "I'm A-OK" for lovingly maintained wheezers from a bygone era.
Taunus Runaway
This wasn't your everyday spin through the city. The route crisscrossed around 150 demanding kilometers through tale-old Taunus - chock-full of surprises, like the "silent guardians," which were hidden clues to be jotted down. Stunt tests like the slalom course, pretzel test, and search drives in a fishnet pattern tested the nerves and skills of drivers and co-pilots alike.
The Lay of the Land
The first rest stop at the Saalburg drew the oldsters like moths to a flame, but the traffic jam at the entrance created some hot-blooded rage. A few vehicles boiled, and some had to cool things down with a spontaneous pit stop. At the Feldberg, the HMSC moderation dished out chuckles, stories, and trivia about engines, history, and mechanical marvels.
Magic Meals and Mishaps
Lunch at the Magic Mountain reinforced that everyone was almost at the finish line. However, MG misfortune struckand one had to tap out due to a burst brake cylinder. The rally resumed, and vehicle after vehicle, from Rolls Royces to Austin-Healeys, continued like an old-time parade, heads held high as they trudged towards the finish line.
The Celebratory Send-off
The final hurrah was the grand award ceremony, with prizes for speed, precision, style, originality, and attention to detail. The co-drivers received special attention for their tenacity and teamwork.
The Sunday Showcase
Car buffs who couldn't make the Saturday ride-out got their fix at the Sunday showcase. At the A*LEASE Concours d'Elegance in the Kurpark Wiesbaden, over a 100 classic vehicles were on display, some dating back to pre-war times.
Riding into the Future
Oldtimer Rallye was never just about racing, it was a celebration of passion, craftsmanship, and history. The 40th edition broke new ground, but it was also a promise of many more years filled with the smell of gasoline and the echo of engines: May 16-17, 2026.
