Enhanced financial aid for the "land" program at the border now set at 2 million rubles
In a significant move to bolster support for rural development, the Russian government has announced increased funding for several key programs. As of 2025, the 'Rural Culture Worker' and 'Rural Coach' programs have been operational, and now, payments under these programs in the Far East and new regions have been raised to 2 million rubles, a doubling from the original 1 million rubles.
These programs join the 'Rural Doctor', 'Rural Midwife', and 'Rural Teacher' initiatives, which have been in operation since 2012, 2012, and 2020 respectively. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been appointed as the responsible party for submitting a report on these increased funding instructions by October 15, 2025.
In addition to the increased funding, there is also a potential change on the horizon regarding age restrictions for participation in the 'Rural Teacher' and 'Rural Coach' programs. Vladimir Putin has instructed the consideration of removing age restrictions, which could open up these opportunities to a wider pool of candidates. However, the responsible person preparing the report and the deadline for completion have yet to be identified.
These programs, which operate across Russia, aim to attract specialists to rural areas. Those who commit to at least five years of work in these programs are eligible for compensation. In a notable extension, these programs were extended until 2030 in September 2024.
