Entrepreneurial vacation time: A strategy for economic recovery

Crikey! Stephan Zöchling, the Boss at Remus, Pulls No Punches: Austria, Wake the Hell Up and Slash Holidays to Save Our Butts.

In a blunt interview with oe24.TV, Stephan Zöchling, CEO of automotive supplier Remus and supervisory board chairman of Pierer Mobility, laid it all out there. He called for a drastic reduction in vacations to halt the economic downturn.

"More Bloody Holidays Than the Pope's Bloody Calendar!"

"We've got more religious holidays than the Pope himself - that's bloody ridiculous! Ten fewer holidays per year would instantly skyrocket our productivity," bluntly declares Zöchling. His solution: Suspend those vacations for five years or shift them to the weekend - a practice common in other nations.

But the entrepreneur doesn't stop there: "Without zero-hour contracts and fewer bureaucratic headaches, Austria will never be competitive on a global scale." The government and social partners need to man up - or else, we'll miss our last chance.

"Stephan Zöchling, the CEO of Remus, proposes a significant economic and social policy shift by suggesting a reduction in vacations for five years, aiming to increase productivity. This policy, he believes, is crucial for Austria to remain competitive globally, including the adoption of practices such as zero-hour contracts and fewer bureaucratic hindrances."

"In the realm of finance, Zöchling's proposal could have far-reaching implications for businesses in Austria, as increased productivity could potentially boost economic growth and attract foreign investment."
