Legacy Brands International Acquires BRIX Holdings, Signaling Growth for Friendly's and Other Brands

In a significant move for the foodservice industry, Legacy Brands International has announced the acquisition of BRIX Holdings. This deal, led by Amol Kohli, a multi-unit franchisee of Friendly's Restaurants, marks a new chapter for BRIX Holdings and its portfolio of brands.

Over the last 16 years, Amol Kohli has been at the helm of several Friendly's locations, demonstrating a deep commitment and a knack for success. With this acquisition, Kohli will serve as Chairman of BRIX's board, overseeing the company's growth strategy while continuing to manage his Friendly's franchises.

The strategy focuses on expanding BRIX's existing restaurant brands and seeking new acquisitions. Kohli aims to promote growth for BRIX's health-focused brands and take Friendly's to the next level, particularly into Southern markets such as Georgia, the Carolinas, and Texas.

John Antioco, Managing Member of JAMCO Interests, started his journey with Friendly's at the age of 15, working as a breakfast table waiter. Antioco has created something special with Friendly's over the years, and his involvement will continue in the new ownership. Current BRIX ownership, including majority member JAMCO, will maintain its involvement and invest in Legacy Brands International to support the expansion.

Sherif Mityas, CEO of BRIX, believes in the company, the strategy, and the path forward to support existing and new franchisees across the portfolio. The acquisition comes on the heels of Friendly's 90th anniversary, presenting significant growth opportunities.

The deal includes brands such as Friendly's, Clean Juice, Orange Leaf, Red Mango, Smoothie Factory + Kitchen, Souper Salad, and Humble Donut Co. The acquisition follows a successful first half of the year for BRIX, which has opened several new locations in 2025 and has more in development.

Kohli is confident in the partnership to grow the BRIX family of brands. He plans to take on the challenge of growing the size, scale, and infrastructure of BRIX’s franchise networks and systems, leveraging his experience running Friendly’s franchises since 2009.

BRIX Holdings, a Dallas-based multi-brand franchising company, has been acquired by Legacy Brands International. The company plans to expand into new markets and continue its strong performance, including positive same-store sales in 2024 and new franchise agreements awarded in 2025. Kohli and Mityas outlined a growth strategy that emphasizes promoting growth for BRIX’s health-focused brands and expanding the presence of Friendly’s.

Kohli's family, loyal team, partners, and faith have played a significant role in his success with Friendly's. He is grateful for their support and looks forward to this new chapter in the growth of BRIX Holdings. Antioco plans to grow the size, scale, and infrastructure for all BRIX franchise networks and systems, ensuring a bright future for these beloved brands.

The acquisition of BRIX Holdings by Legacy Brands International, led by Amol Kohli, signals growth for not only BRIX's health-focused brands but also for the iconic Friendly's brand, aiming to expand into new markets such as Georgia, the Carolinas, and Texas. Additionally, the deal encompasses a business expansion strategy that includes acquiring new brands, with John Antioco continuing his longstanding involvement with Friendly's in the new ownership.
