EU-Kazakhstan Relations Strengthened: COEST Delegation Visits for Strategic Dialogue

A high-level delegation from the Council of the European Union's COEST working group recently visited the Republic of Kazakhstan. The visit aimed to strengthen strategic dialogue between the EU and Kazakhstan, with stops in Aktau and Astana.

In Aktau, the delegation explored the region's economic and scientific potential, visiting the Kazakh-German Institute for Sustainable Engineering (KINI). They also met with the Akim of the Mangystau region, Nurdaulet Kilybaj, to discuss regional development.

The group then traveled to Astana, where they held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko and ministry representatives. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including trade, investment, sustainable development, rule of law, climate, water issues, and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Both sides emphasised their shared commitment to central values such as sustainability and the rule of law.

The visit underscored the strong cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan, with both parties expressing their interest in a future-oriented partnership. The COEST group, which plays a key role in formulating EU policy towards Central Asia, will likely continue to foster dialogue and collaboration between the two regions.
