Wyoming's Midland Ranch, a 1.15-million-acre Working Estate, Hits the Market

The Midland Ranch, a century-old working estate nestled in the heart of western Wyoming, has been listed for sale at $22 million. Spanning over 1.15 million acres, it is the largest ranch currently on the U.S. market.

The Midland Ranch, which has been in the Arambel family for over 120 years, boasts a rich history of preserving rural traditions while meticulously stewarding the pristine land. This expansive ranch is a fully operational ecosystem, stitched together with deeded, state-leased, and BLM land.

The summer pastures near Prospect Mountain are a haven for fisheries, expansive water rights, and rock-climbing meccas. Elsewhere on the ranch, there are potential homesites along the Little Sandy River and expansive grazing land near Pinedale, Rock Springs, and the Wyoming-Colorado-Utah border. The seasonal base near Prospect Mountain includes two residences, historic buildings, and livestock facilities.

The Midland Ranch offers opportunities for conservation-minded buyers to explore easements, habitat preservation, or regenerative ranching projects. The next owner can build additional residences to create a private family compound or a conservation-minded retreat.

The Midland Ranch is larger than the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, which sold for $320 million in 2022. Although it is not mentioned in any related stories, this Wyoming mega-ranch's landscape once was traversed by historic trails like the Oregon and Mormon Trails, and the Owl's Hoot Outlaw Trail.

The Midland Ranch can be acquired as a complete estate or picked and chosen from individual parts. Other featured listings include a turnkey oceanfront residence in Indigo Bay, Sint Maarten, priced at $2,724,800 USD, and a car collector's dream home in Vail, CO, listed for $27,000,000 USD.

Meanwhile, the Pathfinder Ranches, a contiguous cluster of historic working ranches in Wyoming, is listed for $79.5 million and spans nearly a million acres. The Great Western Ranch in New Mexico, about 504,000 acres, previously listed at $115 million, has recently been sold, though the final price was not disclosed.

The Midland Ranch, with its self-sufficient operation, private river frontage, creeks, springs, and senior water rights, offers a significantly lower price per acre compared to Pathfinder and the Great Western Ranch. This ranch's diverse grazing and wildlife potential, coupled with its rich history and vast land mass, make it an attractive proposition for those seeking a unique and expansive property.
