Fall assembly of the Evangelical Church District: Dr. Ilka Werner reconfirmed as district director
Dr. Ilka Werner Re-elected as Superintendent of Evangelical Church Circle Solingen
In a recent election, Dr. Ilka Werner was unanimously re-elected as Superintendent of the Evangelical Church Circle Solingen, a role she has held since 2013. The vote saw her receive 60 out of 60 votes, a testament to the support and confidence she enjoys within the church circle.
Dr. Werner's tenure as Superintendent extends beyond her current role, as she has also chaired the Standing Theological Committee of the Landessynode from 2009 to 2021. Prior to her role as Superintendent, she was a member of the Landessynode of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland since 2005.
As Superintendent, Dr. Werner leads the chair of the Kreissynode and Kreissynodalvorstand, a group responsible for leading the Evangelical Church Circle Solingen between synodal days. She is also a member of the Kreissynodalvorstand, a position she has held since her election.
The Kreissynodalvorstand consists of three pastors, four Synod elders, two deputy Skribae, and four deputy Synod elders. City Church Pastor Friederike Höroldt was also unanimously re-elected as Skriba of the church circle.
In addition to her roles within the church, Dr. Werner is a member of the advisory board of the city's "Alliance for Tolerance and Civil Courage". She is also active in the further training of pastors.
Dr. Werner's work extends beyond Solingen, as she is the 2nd Chairwoman of the association "Educational and Memorial Center Max-Leven-Zentrum Solingen e.V.".
Solingen's Mayor Tim Kurzbach congratulated Dr. Werner on her re-election and wished the other newly elected members of the Kreissynodalvorstand much luck and God's blessing. The newly elected members include Pastor Raphaela Demski-Galla, Reiner Kirchner, Dr. Markus Höfner, Angelika Pollmann, and Aike Rippert, as well as Stefan Dalaff and Lukas Schrumpf who were re-elected as members of the Kreissynodalvorstand.
Before her tenure as Superintendent, Dr. Werner worked as a pastor at a vocational college in Neuss from 1998 to early 2013. She completed her doctorate in theology in 1999 at the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal.
While there is limited information available about Dr. Werner's specific roles within the Evangelical Church Circle Solingen, her re-election and the support she enjoys within the church circle are clear indicators of her significant contributions to the church and the community of Solingen.
