Financial Control Black Work 2023: Fines Top €900K, Imprisonment 24 Months
The Financial Control Black Work, based in Potsdam, has wrapped up its 2023 operations. It concluded 1,580 criminal proceedings and 408 administrative offense proceedings, resulting in fines totaling 907,111 euros and 24 months of imprisonment. The work aims to combat black work, illegal employment, and social benefit fraud, which harm the economy and social systems.
In 2023, the team checked 595 employers and 6,162 people, a decrease from the previous year. They detected over 20 million euros in damages, including unpaid social security contributions, unpaid professional association contributions, improperly received social benefits, and minimum wage violations. The construction industry, hotels and restaurants, and building cleaning industry were the main targets due to black work risks.
The team operates in several districts and independent cities, including Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel. They concluded 2,128 criminal proceedings and 568 administrative offense proceedings, showing an increase in criminal proceedings and a decrease in administrative offense proceedings compared to the previous year.
