In a surprising development, Maike Schuh, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Evonik, a leading specialty chemicals company, has announced her immediate resignation from her position. The news was made public by the company on Thursday in Essen.

Maike Schuh, who joined Evonik ten years ago, has been a member of the board since April 2023. Prior to her role as CFO, she headed accounting at Evonik. In 2020, she was appointed as the manager of the Performance Materials division.

Bernd Töhnjes, the Supervisory Board Chairman, expressed his regret over Maike Schuh's departure. He thanked her for her successful work at Evonik in various roles. Töhnjes also praised her contributions to the company, particularly in her most recent role as CFO.

With Maike Schuh's departure, the operational tasks of the Finance Department at Evonik are being handled by Claus Rettig, the General Authorized Representative, who is also the regional president Asia-Pacific. Claus Rettig will take over Maike Schuh's operational tasks effective immediately.

In a temporary move, CEO Christian Kullmann will lead the finance department in the board. The company is yet to announce a successor for the CFO position.
