FKS Finds 37 Irregularities at Bielefeld School Construction Site

On October 1, 2025, officials from the Financial Controls Schwarzarbeit (FKS) units in Bielefeld and Herford conducted an independent inspection. They discovered irregularities in 37 cases at the Martin-Niemöller-Gesamtschule construction site in Bielefeld, involving violations of the immediate notification requirement for social security, minimum wage violations, and misuse of social benefits.

The inspection, carried out in accordance with the Combating Illegal Work Act (SchwarzArbG), involved approximately 40 officials. They encountered 58 workers employed by 13 different companies and questioned them about their employment status.

The FKS found numerous irregularities and shortcomings at the construction site. A total of 31 cases involved violations of the immediate notification requirement for social security. Additionally, 3 cases each involved minimum wage violations and misuse of social benefits. The affected companies, located outside the district of the Main Customs Office Bielefeld, will have their cases taken over by the respective competent Main Customs Offices for further action.

The inspections at the Martin-Niemöller-Gesamtschule construction site have revealed significant issues. The discovered cases will be handled by the relevant Main Customs Offices, ensuring that the violations of the SchwarzArbG are thoroughly investigated and addressed.
