Focus on Stories, Strategies, and Supply at the North American CO2 Summit 2025 Preview
In September, the North American CO2 Summit 2025 will take place in Denver, Colorado, attracting industry experts, analysts, and representatives from various sectors. This event comes at a time of change for the CO2 market, as it continues to grow and evolve.
The US remains dominant in North America, but Canada is projected to grow fastest to 2030. The global CO2 market is forecast to reach $13bn by 2030, and North America, Asia, and Europe are the largest regions in this market. The Asia-Pacific region is set to become the world's largest CO2 shipping market.
In the North Pacific, China leads in the CO2 market, with Thailand and Indonesia showing growth potential in south-east Asia. The wider carbon capture, utilisation, and storage market is forecast to grow 28-fold by 2050.
The Summit will feature sessions addressing topics such as utilisation pathways, purity requirements in food and beverage, new sources of supply, and the role of CO2 in energy and industrial sectors. Sessions will also delve into supply chain stability, regulatory developments, and sustainability, which are central to the debate in the CO2 market.
Rob Cockerill, Global Content Director at gasworld, will be attending the Summit. A panel of new entrants will highlight fresh perspectives and business models emerging in the CO2 market.
Merchant capacity in the US is expected to dip slightly in 2025 due to retirements, maintenance, and feedstock constraints. Consultancy Xodus projects a need for more than 90 storage sites, 8,000 km of pipelines, and around 80 dedicated shipping vessels by 2055.
The demand for CO2 continues to rise by around 2-3% annually, and the global carbon offset market could reach at least US$150 billion within 25 years. The North American CO2 Summit 2025 is selling tickets fast, with a month left until the event.
The Denver agenda will feature voices from across the value chain, including industry experts, analysts, and representatives from various sectors such as utilisation, capture, technology, and dry ice. It is the first time the Summit is held in Colorado.
The Middle East and Africa, as well as South America, show clear growth potential in the CO2 market. The Summit promises to be an exciting opportunity for industry professionals to network, learn, and discuss the future of the CO2 market.
